Day 4: Kissufim Crossing

I arrived at the border crossing Kissufim, which I had used a day earlier to get through to Gaza, at about 5:30am on Tuesday. Protesters at the entrance to Gaza, read the Torah as a quiet protest during the sunrise. Shortly after sunrise the military quickly cleared the road of all the protesters and cars, to allow trucks and busses full of army personal to enter Gaza.
By about 10:00 it started to get very hot, and my cloths are filthy with the dust that's getting kicked up. It's very humid also, and I've had about 5 liters of water, and 6 energy bars by midday. By noon cars carrying luggage, boxes, appliances started trickling out of Gaza. It is only 5:45pm here now. The activists, and protesters have another 6 hours to leave Gaza before trouble starts. I am at the press headquarters in Israel, which is quite impressive with lots of big named media people here, wireless internet, and a bar! I am having trouble getting "official" permission to enter Gaza. Government registered press is only allowed to enter in busses escorted by the military.

Mike,
In a way, I am glad you are out of the most dangerous zone. But on the other hand, I think you were lucky to get into Gaza in the first place and should have stayed put somehow, rather than taking your buddy to his car. Easy to say at this end of the world!!!
But that shower must have felt great...you did take one?
Keep it coming.
