Day 2: Jerusalem and Beer Sheva

Sunday, August 14th
I shot this morning at the Western Wall again, where there were hundreds, if not thousands of Jews praying. It was not dangerous as had been mentioned. Muslims below the age 45 were not allowed entrance to the old city today. At one of the entrances, two men (Muslims I suppose) quietly argued with the military at a check point while I walked right past them into the old city. I understand the need for Israeli security, but it is uncomfortable for me to see such discrimination.
I just got to Beer Sheva late in the day which is about a 1/2 hour from the southern part of Gaza. Early tomorrow I plan to travel to the border crossing. It has been another long day, and I'm getting very tired. It's pretty quiet here, and the town looks very dirty and run down, hopefully I can find something good to eat before getting some rest.

It was great to talk to you last night. There are an increasing number of stories in the news on the pullout, I expect that as the days go by it will dominate the news stories. You are at the center of where things are happening in the world right now, just make sure you are just off to the side taking pictures and don't get caught up in anything that even looks dangerous.
Watched the football game last night the 49ers beat the Raiders, hard to believe. The A's are still tied for first and life in the Bay Area goes as usual. We watch every news story on the pullout in anticipation of seeing you. Be Carefull. Love Dad
